Tonight saw the first league test for the new u18 squad at Trafford Park. The youngsters started very lively with Bradley Spooner in particular causing problems for the Harford defence. Play quickly switched to Harford attacking with new keeper Warren Burwood impressing with some fine saves to keep Harford from taking the lead. However on the 10th minute good work by Jack Lincoln and Angus Mackie enabled Tommy Knight to volley home for Wroxham. The Wroxham youngsters continued to press on to the Harford goal with Bradley Spooner again forcing an excellent save from the Harford keeper. The play then became even with chances at both ends keeping both keepers busy with outstanding saves. Jack Lincoln came close to making it 2-0 on the half hour but again denied by the Harford keeper.

Harford came out the stronger side in the second half with the Wroxham defence having to work hard with Alex Philpott and Jack Lincoln working together to clear a good shot by Harford. At this point play became even with both teams creating good chances which they could not capitalise on. This continued until the final whistle with the one goal of the game winning the match for the Yachtsmen u18s.
Manager Mark Wilkinson was pleased with the teams first performance saying: "All the lads put a shift on tonight and played a very tight game against a hard working Harford side to produce their first three points. Harford are definitely a team to watch this season."
Assistant Manager Russell Barnes added : "I believe we have a lot more work to do, a couple more gears to go through, but there is lots of quality in this squad. We didn't play quite how we would like, but all credit to Harford as they are a very good side this season ".
