Wroxham Football Club are incredibly sad to announce that Jordan Southgate has decided to leave the Club with immediate effect. Jordan has been at Wroxham for six years with the last five spent leading the men’s first team squad. During this period, the Club has progressed significantly on the pitch, with each season seeing an improvement on the previous one. We are immensely grateful for all that Jordan has achieved and he leaves the Club firmly established at step 4.
Jordan Southgate, commenting on his decision said: “Where do I start? I have made the difficult decision to step away from the football club, which I can assure you hasn’t been an easy one. This Club has been a part of my life for six years and I’ve loved every minute of it! I am grateful for the club in giving me my first opportunity to manage and I never expected what was to come next six years of management - a league promotion and 249 games in charge!
I’d like to thank every player who has put the blue and white shirt on in my time, James & Lee Robson - two fantastic chairmen who have given me a lot of support - the staff who have been with me throughout my time at the club and all of the volunteers, this club really wouldn’t run without you all!
I have an opportunity to progress my personal career in a higher league and I feel the timing is right for me to take this chance! This Club will always be in my heart, it’s been a blast and I wish the Club nothing but success in the future!”
Wroxham FC Chair, James Blower, said: “I didn’t intend to take this role on, when Lee Robson left, and a big part of why I did was Jordan Southgate. It’s always about the people for me and Jordan is a first class individual. What he has built at Wroxham is incredible and he should take immense pride from. We have an excellent backroom team and he has assembled a strong team, which over achieves given that our budget is one of the lowest in the Isthmian League. I’ve always known that it was only when, not if, Jordan got an opportunity at a higher level and I only wish him every success with the next stage of his career. Finally, I’d like to pay tribute to Sian Southgate – without her support, Jordan would not be able to have achieved what he has. They will always be welcome at Trafford Park.”
“I have asked Matt (Halliday) to take the team for the forthcoming matches with Bury and Gorleston along with Daz (Plowman-Read) and Becky (Edge) and our focus moves to what are two crucial league games. I urge our fantastic supporters to get behind the Club and come and support Matt and the team at Trafford Park on Bank Holiday Monday.”
